Aging is a fact of life...looking your age doesn't have to be.
What ages us? Several processes come together to make us look older. We lose eyebrows, eyelashes, our pores get larger, we get some age spots and uneven skin pigment, fine lines start to show up and wrinkles get deeper. If that was not enough, we seem to lose our cheekbones, our lips get thinner, things begin to sag. Suddenly, we wake up wondering when it all happened.
Brows are easily fixed with microblading. Eyelashes will naturally look thicker with permanent makeup lash line enhancement. If you want a little more, there is always lash extensions which can look natural and fabulous at the same time. Those are quick and easy ways to take years off your appearance.
This is when it gets confusing but does not have to be. Let me break it down:
A surgical facelift is a risky proposition. It involves, well of course, surgery which has its own inherent risks and can have a long healing process as well as unwanted irreversible outcomes (think Michael Jackson and Kenny Rogers). We worry that we won’t look natural or we will no longer look like ourselves anymore. Studies show most men and women are happy with who they are, they simply would like to turn back the clock a bit. With valid reason, the unknown possibilities that come with surgery can be scary and frighten a good many of us away from that option.
What if there was another option?
Of course, there is, otherwise why would I be writing this? We can easily smooth fine lines and tighten the skin with Dermatude. In fact, Dermatude, which is basically microneedling on steroids with no downtime if you haven't already tried it, goes a long-long way to reverse many of the signs of aging and by itself is a form of non-surgical facelift. Add in some chemical peels here and there (light ones - not the kind that make you look like a burn victim). Chemical peels work best and have the best outcomes if you do lighter peels with some frequency and forget about the stronger peels. As an aside here, a burn is a burn is a burn and regardless of how the skin is burned, if it is deep enough, burns can and do cause scarring. No one wants burn scars on their face. Done in moderation and properly (and we do), chemical peels force the skin to exfoliate, build collagen, elastin and lead to tighter and naturally more youthful-looking skin. Chemical peels are a great adjunct therapy to Dermatude and help you to have that baby smooth skin that, well, babies have.
Injectables like Botox help with deeper wrinkles, as opposed to fine lines caused by loss of collagen, thanks to the elimination of large facial muscle movements that are the overall culprits. Remember Grandma used to say if you keep making that face it will freeze that way? If you keep squinting your eyes and frowning, then guess what? Overtime, just as Grandma predicted, it'll stay that way. Botox prevents those movements. Botox can also be used to lift droopy brows and jowls (yes it can) as well as lines around the month and eyes. The key to success is an excellent provider who keenly understands how facial muscles work, I mean REALLY understands.
Fillers, when placed properly, can give a natural lift, plump areas where tissue has become lax and can be long lasting. Little bit on the temples, cheekbones, jawline and chin, and viola! We've all seen the duck lips and unnatural looks that can be caused by fillers and Botox but we have also seen profoundly natural looks that are made possible by the same treatments (we just don't realize the individual had anything done).
What makes the difference between a natural look and an unnatural look?
The difference is simply the desire of the client and the skill set and natural tendency to want to create a natural and youthful appearance of the practitioner. Your liquid facelift should be so natural looking that everyone thinks you look great (including and most-importantly you when you look in the mirror) but no one knows why (except you...and us of course).
